ReplyDeleteTeachers can prepare students to be assets to the communities by teaching them to be good citizens, teaching them respect for themselves, respect for others, and respect for their communities. When students show this respect, they are proud of their communities and will do more to help and further their communities.
Finding out what students are interested in and linking what they are learning to their interests will help students become motivated. Another way to motivate them is to point out how the learning is relevant to real life. When they see information as useful, they will be more apt to learn it.
I encourage my students each day by telling them that I know they can succeed. I tell them that they are smart, and they can do anything they put their mind to doing. I hold high expectations for them and push them to achieve those expectations. I also encourage them to set goals for themselves so that they can push themselves.
Watching this video reminded me that sometimes we are all that students have. A student may act up because he/she wants attention that is not given at home. It caused me to realize that before I speak harshly about that behavior toward the student, to think about why he/she is acting up and try to respond appropriately. He/she may struggle with learning because there is no help offered at home. This encouraged me to get to know my students and teach them the best way that I can.
Fantastic video! Very inspiring!!
ReplyDelete1. Teachers can help prepare students to be an asset to their community by believing that each child can accomplish their goals. Having faith in someone is a powerful thing.
2. Motivating students means you have to find out what their interests are and go from there. Keep lessons fun and stimulating and make students think.
3. A student will know you believe in them not just from saying the words but by your actions as well.
4. The video impressed upon me the need to never give up on a student even if he or she has given up on him/herself.
